Deep Dive: Open Curriculum

  • No General Education Requirements: Brown's Open Curriculum has no mandatory Gen-Ed requirements. Students have the freedom to choose courses based on their interests and career goals.

  • Interdisciplinary Learning: Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of disciplines and can easily combine different fields of study. This interdisciplinary approach fosters creativity and innovative thinking.

  • Satisfactory/No Credit (S/NC) Grading Option: Students can take courses on a Satisfactory/No Credit basis, allowing them to focus on learning without the pressure of traditional letter grades.

  • No Loans Policy: Brown has a "no loans" financial aid policy for all undergraduates, replacing loans with scholarships that do not need to be repaid.
